REIKI, what is it
Discipline formalized in Japan by Mikao Usui, and defined by himself as a Method of Spiritual Healing.
It is a path of personal growth that puts us back in touch with our deepest needs, desires and feelings, helping us to recognize and honor them, so that we can fully express ourselves and our personal talent.
A path to understand how the symptom, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual, should not be considered only as an accidental event to be eradicated, but rather as a very specific message with which our soul asks to be listened to and understood.
The first step to healing is to ultimately get to know ourselves and understand what we really need.
Reiki does not have ideological or political purposes, it does not oppose or pretend to replace any type of religious confession or medical-health therapy.
The term "Healing", where used, should be understood as a synonym of Happiness, Completion, Enlightenment.
It is possible to learn the practice of Reiki by attending a Level I Seminar during a weekend.
WHERE IT COMES FROM
Legend has it that Usui was a teacher, a monk, a scholar of religions and archaic oriental traditions.
During one of his lessons a student asked him how the Buddha and the Christ could heal with the laying on of hands and what was the secret of healing that they instilled in the soul and body of men.
This question, to which he did not know what to answer, prompted him to undertake a long period of study, meditation and asceticism.
On the very last day that he had allowed himself to find the answer, he had a vision in which the sacred symbols appeared to him that he had already encountered in his studies, but of which he had not yet understood the deep meanings, and finally knew their essence. and how to use them.
It was through these symbols that Usui formalized the teaching and passed it on to his students.
Even today the Art of Healing is transmitted orally from Master to Master in that same form.
Mikao Usui initiated eighteen masters, including Chujiro Hayashi, who initiated Hawayo Takata, thanks to whom Reiki arrived in the West.
THE IDEOGRAM
The ideogram is the graphic representation of an idea, and the subsequent strokes of which it is composed tell a real story.
In this case, grasping its content is perhaps the best way to understand what Reiki is, or rather, what it represents.
THE PRINCIPLES OF REIKI
In the version handed down by Hawayo Takata the principles sound like this:
Just for today...
Do not get angry
Just for today...
Do not worry
Earn a living honestly
Honor the Masters, Parents and Ancestors
Show gratitude for every living thing
Just for today...
It is originally a set of simple rules handed down to Mikao Usui by Emperor Meiji (1868-1912):
The secret way to invite luck
(Shoufuku no hihoo)
The wonderful medicine for all diseases
(Manbyo no Reiyaku)
Just for today
(Kyo dake wa)
Do not be angry
(Okoruna)
Do not worry
(Shimpai suna)
